This morning we were going to move but the weather turned treacherous and it would have been crazy to get out there with the wind, rain and thunder. The highest wind gusts were 35.4 mph waves and swells making it worse. I am so glad we are swinging on a hook and not at sea right now. I tried to make it a sleep in day but wasn’t tired so I read and then began to watch a movie which was boring and that put me to sleep, for a while. Fred installed the bilge pump switch. By late this afternoon The dinghy was not looking good, and Fred knew something needed to be done before dark. Since the pump out boat only pumps out heads, that meant Fred either had to bail or raise the dink on davits. He chose the latter. It was wicked out there, between the wind and waves it was all he could do to get into the dink without falling in. He made it, a true test of agility and grit. Even then I had my doubts as I am sure it was the next thing to riding a mechanical horse. I wanted to take pictures of his task at hand but I was afraid to leave the cockpit in case he fell in. He got back into Casa Mare’ after hooking the dink to the davits and we raised her enough for water to drain out of the back. Finally, still windy and raining, we went below and had spaghetti for dinner. Now the deck is all rinsed off with fresh rain water and some of the smaller leaks caulked as we found them. The major leaks, no surprise to us, were the three hatches. Fred is waiting to get back home to order the gaskets so we have to live with the sound of water dripping into pots and pans for now. The radio was quiet today except for jokes here and there about the weather, a few songs and hails from one boat to another. No one went anywhere, not many anyway. The ones who did ended up needing help and they got it . We will probably wait until Wednesday to leave.
