February 22-23, 2012 Luperon

Wednesday & Thursday February 22 & 23 2012

Wednesday: Missed Yoga class this morning.   Didn’t get much sleep last night.  We went into town for lasagna, daily special at JR’s and then to buy a coffee pot.  We don’t do well without coffee in the morning and ours broke.  Fred tried to weld the stem to the bottom to no avail.  We finally gave in and picked up one for the stove.  That’s all they use here anyway so I guess fate is already starting to convert us.  We went to the one and only marina here who does repairs and Fred talked to them about getting the bottom done.  Guess we will know more tomorrow.  Tonight we are going to JR’s to play trivia pursuit.  The winner gets the golden coconut and we have a pretty good team together, we think.  We are swinging by to pick up Evlynne, who is on the boat just over from us.  One of these days we will stick close to the boat but so far, we love going into town and spending time with the locals.  They don’t get much rain here so we can’t really say we will save that for a rainy day because that may be a long time coming.
Later...
We lost at Trivial Pursuit by 1/4 point!  Ahgh...it’s only a game but it was a lot of fun.
Thursday:  I got to sleep in late today but I don’t like that.  Makes the day go by too fast.  I did a bit of cleaning, it’s hard to get going when trying to clean a boat, I feel like I am going around in circles.  I keep getting distracted.  Fred took the laundry in so I am anxious to see which fence our clothes are hanging on.  Ha! Ha!  No, Steve has dryers, I think.  Hummm, I forgot to ask.  I did a few things here, made some chicken veggie soup, swept the floor, dishes, the norm.  No wonder I don’t care to stay on the boat for very long.  I find things to do.  Fred called Papo and had him deliver water to the boat.  55 gallons, cost $20.00 delivered.  I gave Papo a container of soup also.  Fred is trying to fix the auto pilot and all that mess I cleaned up today is replaced with tools and such as he looks for a wheel puller.  Still hasn’t found it yet.  “To be continued tomorrow”  he mumbles.  I am still thinking Fred needs those people who remodel cars and trucks on TV need to come see Fred’s dilemma.  I bet they would have a ball with Casa Mare’.  We are going to Steve’s this evening.  Island Girl is leaving tomorrow along with a few others so some of us are getting together tonight.  We will see them on another Island no doubt.  That’s what happens when you cruise.  I think Fred has decided to wait till Puerto Rico to have the bottom done.  They are just not too sure of themselves here to convince Fred they really know what they are doing.  I do think we will go ahead and have the dodger done though while we are here.  We like it here anyway.  We never know what day it is here, I have to check when I am writing.  Island time they call it.  Watches are non existent unless you have an appointment or something.  Even then, life happens.
Fred found his wheel puller and wondered what it was doing in his tool bag.  Go figure!  He is a happy camper now.  He makes me laugh!  Even in a crisis!  Life is good!
