May 5, 2012 Stanley Cay

Saturday, May 5, 2012

Wow, Saturday already!  Tonight is Cinco de Mayo here on Stanley Cay.  Another island celebration.  It is our hopes to take in a little of that celebration this evening.  So far most of their celebrations on these islands are good clean fun, although Fred and I are not fans of huge crowd.  Neither are Al and Sue.  It is always fun to share the culture experience with the locals anyway, if even for a short while.  Al and Sue are thinking about doing Thunderball Cave today after I told them what an experience it was and I was the first to volunteer to go with them.  Sue, like myself, is a bit wary about going underwater into a cave but after I told her it was nearly dead low tide, she wanted to go.  Unlike yesterday morning, I am excited to get back in there.

This morning the tide was not right to go into the cave without going under water so we joined Al and Sue and took them for a tour around the area.  The have the cutest dogs and I got to bring Chelsie with me on the dink while Sophie stayed with Al and Sue.  I got so many thank you, I am so excited licks.  The short time I she was on our dink I managed to teach her I am their favorite Aunt Patti.  Then almost a half hour later Sophie wanted to come so they both changed places.  Those are the cutest cuddly dogs!  We were going to move the boats then go to the cave again but the tide was not high enough for Wind Dancer so we dinked it over to the cave and again, I was mesmerized at the beauty below.  I have a beautiful fish book Jim, Linda and Jennifer gave me for Christmas.  I wish I could have taken it under water to identify the beautiful fish.  Sue told me there is a card that one can take underwater, you wear it around your neck and identify them too.  I can’t begin to tell you the different species of fish there were, but it was a sight to see.

After our return, we decided it was okay to move closer to Staniel Cay Yacht Club.  We will be leaving tomorrow and need to refuel and top off our water then we are headed out, about 9:00 am.  Another adventure ahead of us.  We really got quite well acquainted with Al and Sue.  Fun to be with and very funny!  I am glad we will be traveling together.  I know they are going as far as Bimini but not sure where they will head for when they cross.  They are from Texas so heading to the West coast as we head for the east coast.  Tonight we went to the Yacht club and they bought us a drink, cokes, listened to 4 guys jam with their instruments and were surprised to see Yellow man in with them.  We all sang along to familiar tunes, everyone happy as a clam as we watched the sunset.  We headed on to Something to Sea, (I think that’s the name) but the only purple restaurant in the area.  We closed the place down.

It has been a beautiful relaxing day, filled with fun and laughter.  I noticed something today also.  My jaw is not tight any more.  I used to have a sore jaw every day from stress.  That’s a huge sign I am doing the right thing!  All part of God’s plan.
