What happened to Saturday? Wow! It is so hard to keep up with the days and dates. We got a lot done yesterday, nothing much to share about it...just one of those days you get things done that have been put on the back burner a bit. We watched a movie last night with Evlynne and made plans to finish up the leftover things today...at least that was the plan. It dawned on me about 4:00 we were getting nothing done pretty fast. We went into Puerto Blanco this morning, Fred bought a beautiful Larimar pendant for me from Rosa Van Sant. I am absolutely in love with that stone. It reminds me of the colors of the water we have been sailing on since December. I wish I could just sell it in the states but it is hard to get out of this country in volume. Every piece has to be either polished or made into something. Nothing raw or they may cut your hand off for having it. Just kidding about the hand part but the rest is true! I am so excited about it. We sat and talked with boating friends as well as local friends and decided we had a lot to do so we headed out to the boat to start the day. A friend brought me a Karen Kingsbury Book “A Thousand Tomorrows”. I love the author and enjoy reading her stuff. Rosa asked me if I needed more key limes and of course I can always use them for cooking. I will pick them up later on in the week. Great for salsa and lobster. We had to go into town to the pharmacy again, to the ATM, and my favorite bakery near the plaza but that was closed. All the stores were closed. On Sundays Siesta’s are different than any other day of the week. On the way, I got to see my first naked chickens hanging on a rope in the street. I never have my camera when I see these unique way of life things. I heard that the chicken here was really good, like Grandma’s chickens, but that was enough for me just seeing it. This was at a restaurant across from Capt. Steve’s Place that everyone raves about their chicken. We got back and Fred had to do some work on the internet but couldn’t get a connection on the boat so he went into town by himself while I stayed back and got lots done. Rod is coming tomorrow and we had to send him an email with info on that. Got the Jib back, all patched up and back on the forestay. It is actually cold here, about 70 degrees. Lots of boaters left today, for reasons I cannot understand. The weather has been raining off and on, windy as all get out and now cold. People have been talking all week about leaving because of this so called “window” but this morning Bruce Van SAnt came on the radio and said he had heard many were planning to leave and they may want to rethink their plan. Boats still left. Hippo left and made it as far as the Mona passage last week but turned around and came back, one person had a sprained wrist and the other battered up their arm from rough seas. I heard Bruce giving them advice for their next attempt and hope they listened closely. This cruising stuff is not like you get in a car and just go. Oh No...no way. It’s all about the weather, the wind, the seas and the “intended” destination. “TIMING” is of the essence. Weather is to be believed here and if one ignores it, shame on you. Wed are in no hurry to leave nor get anywhere. When it is time to go, we will go, when the window is RIGHT. I think they call these winds Christmas Winds or something like that.
We are both tired and have a big day tomorrow. Nite.
