Wow, what a great day! It started out slow but once I got in gear things started happening. The first thing I wanted to do was wash, everything was salt wet and that never dries out completely. Fred decided not to leave today and make that run to the DR and I am one happy sailor. Although this island is expensive, it is worth the wait. Ronnie and Monica from EOS came to the marina, they are staying at the marina across the island. They rented a car and asked us if we wanted to go to lunch with them. We went to the cutest little place called “The Conch Shack”. It was good to get out and away from the boat for awhile as well as with good people. They brought us back to the marina and we got busy. Fred pumped water out of the food locker and I got it dried and restocked again, wash is still going (they only have one washer and dryer here) and we went to the grocery store and bought only what we absolutely needed. When we got back they had happy hour at 5 so we quickly put things up that needed to be and went to the happy hour with our water bottles. It was great to talk to other cruisers and hear their stories. Cruisers are the best people! Some left early to go see the “glow worms” which I think may be the phosphorus in the water. If so, I already saw some coming here. It is suppose to be after the full moon. Jennifer, my favorite niece told me about it and it is beautiful. Like fairy dust sparkling in the water as it is stirred up. I have never heard it called Glow Worms but I guess I should google it to be sure. Fred is thinking about staying at the marina another day because there is a blow coming in Saturday night into Sunday or perhaps a day later. Either is okay with me, nothing could be worse than the other night. Well maybe it could but I would rather not stick my nose out there if I don’t have to. I know this sounds crazy but I am going to hose off the v-berth cushions (yes...wet them again) with good water to try to get the salt out otherwise they will always feel damp. I didn’t know that until tonight. I am on a learn as I go status. Suggestions welcomed!
We moved two slips over, Fred plugged into their electricity and we have Stasia in hiding. She is not allowed in the cockpit because 1...she will get off the boat. 2...we didn’t tell customs she was with us. The management said to keep her below and quiet so we did. I didn’t ask why, maybe another fee or something. Stasia is still looking for a way out. Not much to say about today except I am grateful and trust God more than I did a week ago! I have today!
